For over 90% of people with Hypertension (high blood pressure), there is no identifiable medical cause. This is called primary or essential hypertension. This means that for most people they will have to take medications for the rest of their lives.
High blood pressure accounts for 25% of all deaths worldwide and affects approximately one in three people worldwide. That’s over 16 Million people in the UK and half of those will have no idea that they have high blood pressure.
